Dimitris Bitros- Energy Healing Practitioner & Spiritual Coach
Breathwork is an alternative therapy that uses controlled breathing to promote relaxation and well-being. Breathwork has been shown to be beneficial for treating anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders. It can also help to improve sleep quality, increase energy levels, and reduce pain. Even short, 5-minute sessions can help to reduce stress and improve your overall sense of well-being. There are many different types of breathwork, but all of them involve using your breath to improve your overall well-being.
This simple, yet powerful meditation can help restore peace and balance back to your life.

HOW BREATHWORK AFFECTS OUR AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM
There are two main types of nerves in the autonomic nervous system: sympathetic and parasympathetic.
In the western world, we are taught to seek pleasure and avoid pain. This is largely because our sympathetic nervous system is responsible for the "fight or flight" response that allows us to escape dangerous situations. However, what we don't realize is that the sympathetic nervous system also causes stress and anxiety. The parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for the "rest and digest" response that allows us to relax and heal. When we breathwork, we are able to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and achieve a state of relaxation.
It is important with any kind of rhythmic breathing that you are aware of how you are feeling throughout the process. You may feel some tingling, a light headed feeling , energy surging through your body. These sensations are normal when practicing breathwork. If the feelings become a bit overwhelming or disorienting, STOP IMMEDIATELY! Breathwork beginners should gradually increase the intensity of their breathing.
It is recommended you practice breathwork with a partner. If that is not possible, please find a seat with a secure back, lean against a wall or lay down while practicing.
This meditation is simple. It requires less than 5 minutes of your time.
I recommend practicing this meditation twice a day; in the morning when you wake up and in the evening before you are ready to rest.
We want to create a new habit. Habits take time and consistency. I recommend practicing this breathwork exercise everyday for at least 30 days.
